One of the most common findings in health problems is spasms in various muscles of the body. These spasms can be caused by many things, including stress, structural misalignment, faulty posture, imbalance in the feet, injuries, nutritional imbalances, overwork, and internal organ and glandular problems. Unless these muscle spasms are relaxed, treatment often provides little more than short term relief.
Massage therapy is one of the many alternative services offered at the Chiropractic Wellness Center. As a primary component of Crisis Care for injuries, massage therapy is extremely helpful in relaxing the involuntary muscle spasms that accompany traumatic injuries and prevent healing from taking place. After the acute swelling and inflammation have decreased, massage therapy can accelerate healing and often help to prevent an acute injury from becoming a chronic or lifelong problem.
As a companion therapy to Alternative Treatment for structural and other health problems, massage therapy can greatly accelerate the healing process. For example, headaches and neck pain are almost always accompanied, if not caused, by muscle spasms in the neck and shoulders. Taking pain medication, receiving physical therapy, getting chiropractic care, etc., without relaxing these muscle spasms, typically provides only temporary relief and the pain often returns, again and again.
As an integral part of our Holistic Health Programs for chronic conditions, massage therapy enhances all of our other health care services. By helping to relax muscle spasms, increase lymphatic drainage and elimination of accumulating toxins, and stimulate blood circulation, massage therapy can provide a significant benefit in the comprehensive treatment of chronic health conditions.
Offered in conjunction with our chiropractic or other alternative services, massage therapy is an experience of relaxation that you won't soon forget!
During the initial treatment phase of structural and other health problems, exercise tends to be more detrimental than beneficial, due to the structural instability and inflammatory process that so frequently accompany acute or chronic health problems. As healing progresses, and structural stability increases while inflammation decreases, exercise often starts to become increasingly beneficial in the healing process.
If indicated for your condition, Dr. Blair will prescribe
and instruct you on specific stretching exercises at the
appropriate time in your healing process. These exercises,
designed specifically for you, can be performed in the comfort
of your own home, and can very often accelerate your response
to treatment. In conjunction with other aspects of your
treatment, these exercises are a great way to help you stretch
your way to health!
Custom-Made Orthotics / Shoe Inserts
Since our feet are the foundation of our entire body, abnormal structure and function of the feet can often cause structural stress throughout our bodies. Pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hip joints, low back, neck, shoulders, etc. can all be caused by faulty foot biomechanics.
Examining your feet for postural, structural or functional imbalance as a contributing factor to your health problems is a standard part of Dr. Blair's initial examination. If it is determined that foot imbalance is a major contributing factor to your current health condition, Dr. Blair may recommend either custom-made flexible orthotics, or shoe inserts, to be worn inside your shoes. Custom-made orthotics or shoe inserts, prescribed specifically for your feet, support the three arches of each foot, align your feet in a more stable, comfortable and balanced position, help to absorb shock, allow your feet to provide the correct foundation for your entire body, and help your chiropractic or other alternative treatment respond quicker and last longer.
Only custom-made flexible orthotics or prescribed shoe inserts can give your feet the proper support they need to help alleviate back pain and other health problems caused by structural stress from the feet. Even if your feet don't hurt, they may be a major contributor to health problems you are currently experiencing. If you are experiencing foot pain, back pain or any other health concern, getting your feet examined just might be the first step to becoming pain and symptom free!
