Kathy Bubulka Administrative Manager
I grew up in St. Louis, MO, and received my Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. I worked in banking in St. Louis for a while , and then moved down to Shreveport, LA where I worked in the gaming industry. I've been in Kansas City for the last nine years, and feel like this is home for me. I love to cook, do crafts, and home improvement projects in my free time. My favorite past time is playing with my yellow lab, Brady. We enjoy running, training for hunt tests, and of course playing fetch.

After spending too many years tied to a typewriter, then a computer doing medical transcriptioin I graduated from the 500 hour course at KC's Massage Therapy Training Institute in 1992. I've been doing massage ever since. I do have a tendency to do a deep massage.
I became interested in Polarity Therapy and completed the Registered Polarity Practitioner training in 1999, another 600+ hours (and I had sworn I would never go back to school.) During this course of study I explored the relationship of subtle energies, how they show up in the body, modalities for balancing which include touch, exercises and the ability to self regulate by learning to recognize what basic elements are disrupted. In essence, how the parts effect the whole and how to come into resonance with the Universal Energy Field. This is an ongoing exploration and I am sure will be a life long personal journey. These sessions can include touch, while you are clothed and on the massage table; exercise (Polarity Yoga) as well as conversation about life style and the relationship of these elements in establishing a personal balance.
Part of my training included trauma renegotiation based on the work of Peter Levine. Learning to recognize the somatic, or physical signs of activation and resolution, helping the client rebalance the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the nervous system. By doing this the central nervous system is retrained to be able to do its job keeping us alert and able to evaluate a 'suspicious' situation without diving into fight, flight or freeze. The sessions are done sitting in a hair and at first exploring the physical sensations that identify the knowledge of safety. Then with increased awareness of comfort identify the signals of alarm system
activation, thus gaining tools for self regulation.
My training in the different modalities of massage, Polarity Therapy and trauma renegotiation all relate to each other and inform my sessions. I have said that I can do a polarity session without introducing massage, but I cannot do a massage without using polarity and my trauma training is right there too.

I have always been interested in the human body in its physical, mental and spiritual aspects. I look at bodywork from a creative background in the arts. I have a Bachelors degree in theatre and some post graduate work. I have been very fortunate to have worked at a chiropractic office for the past twelve years after completing the training program at the Massage Therapy Training Institute in Kansas City. I have learned a great deal from the opportunity of working with so many clients who approach their health in a holistic way. I am an intuitive massage therapist, meaning that I stay open to guidance in whatever form that might be. I believe that the key to healing is listening and that massage not only opens the door to connecting and listening to the body but also mind and spirit. I believe every massage is different. I try to respond to each client uniquely with what I believe is the best technique for their particular need. I primarily use Swedish massage strokes while incorporating many modalities such as deep tissue, trigger point therapy, myofascial release, acupressure, craniosacral, lymph drainage, stretching, and reflexology. My massage touch is described as medium to firm. I frequently rely on the use of deep tissue when the client and I both feel it is beneficial. When appropriate I like to do energy work including Reiki, attunement and therapeutic touch. I have also seen incredible results with visualization and deep breathing techniques. Though most of my massage sessions are in hour increments I have found that ninety minute sessions allow time to work through specific complaints while leaving time for overall body relaxation. I am a great believer in the process of self healing and I feel honored and blessed.
