MO insurance companies to provide benefits for chiropractic care

Kathy Gerard
Administrative Manager

I grew up in St. Louis, MO, and received my Bachelor's degree in Business Management from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. I worked in banking in St. Louis for a while , and then moved down to Shreveport, LA where I worked in the gaming industry. I've been in Kansas City for the last nine years, and feel like this is home for me. I love to cook, do crafts, and home improvement projects in my free time. My favorite past time is playing with my yellow lab, Brady. We enjoy running, training for hunt tests, and of course playing fetch.

Willie Morgan, LMT, RPP

After spending too many years tied to a typewriter, then a computer doing medical transcriptioin I graduated from the 500 hour course at KC's Massage Therapy Training Institute in 1992. I've been doing massage ever since. I do have a tendency to do a deep massage.

I became interested in Polarity Therapy and completed the Registered Polarity Practitioner training in 1999, another 600+ hours (and I had sworn I would never go back to school.) During this course of study I explored the relationship of subtle energies, how they show up in the body, modalities for balancing which include touch, exercises and the ability to self regulate by learning to recognize what basic elements are disrupted. In essence, how the parts effect the whole and how to come into resonance with the Universal Energy Field. This is an ongoing exploration and I am sure will be a life long personal journey. These sessions can include touch, while you are clothed and on the massage table; exercise (Polarity Yoga) as well as conversation about life style and the relationship of these elements in establishing a personal balance.

Part of my training included trauma renegotiation based on the work of Peter Levine. Learning to recognize the somatic, or physical signs of activation and resolution, helping the client rebalance the sympathetic and parasympathetic branches of the nervous system. By doing this the central nervous system is retrained to be able to do its job keeping us alert and able to evaluate a 'suspicious' situation without diving into fight, flight or freeze. The sessions are done sitting in a chair and at first exploring the physical sensations that identify the knowledge of safety. Then with increased awareness of comfort identify the signals of alarm system activation, thus gaining tools for self regulation.

My training in the different modalities of massage, Polarity Therapy and trauma renegotiation all relate to each other and inform my sessions. I have said that I can do a polarity session without introducing massage, but I cannot do a massage without using polarity and my trauma training is right there too.

Aaron Stonecipher
Massage Therapist

Aaron graduated from the Midwest Institute of Natural Healing in 1998, then worked as an instructor's assistant, working with Carmelita Davis-Beets for a year, and continues to teach at the school.  Aaron brings a strong sense of commitment and dedication to everything he is involved in. His experience as a certified fitness trainer (I.F.P.A.) offers tremendous insight to the students as they learn about the rehabilitation and re-education of the muscular system. Working toward his certification in Hatha Yoga, Aaron uses this knowledge to teach his students the finer movements of the muscular system. Aaron is certified by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork, and is currently a Body Somatic practitioner.

Otis Watson
Massage Therapist

I first became fascinated with the workings of the human body when I was taking science classes working towards my BSE degree in physical education at the University of Arkansas. Four semesters of anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology and I was hooked. During that same time I was introduced to massage therapy and was also well and truly hooked. Some years later I was able to attend and graduate from Massage Therapy Training Institute in Kansas City. After graduating I immediately started seeking out advanced courses in deep tissue work, neuromuscular therapy, and sports massage. During the 1990's, I was heavily involved in sports massage. I helped provide massage for several NCAA and amateur national championships as well as working with professional and collegiate teams and Olympic athletes. I still do sports massage, but over the last decade my focus has shifted more to massage for injury rehabilitation, pain management, stress relief, and quality of life. I have been practicing massage for a little over 20 years, teaching in various massage schools for 15 years, and it has never seemed like work. I love my job!
